Faith without action is nothing
I tend to give to kids who sell flags on weekends, and when I had more time back in uni, I was a volunteer in YMCA/YWCA, so I thought I did rather ok. But it wasn't the case
As I finished my shopping at City Square today, I crossed an overhead bridge and as I walked down, I noticed this old man with his right leg amputated below the knee. I pretended not to see him and hurried by and it was at that moment when all the thoughts came up to me
I pretended not to see it because, I didn't want him to feel miserable with stares and second looks on his leg
I hurried by because, I didn't feel like it was my generous day
[didn't feel like]
Those dying of starvation can't wait till I begin to feel like giving. And contribution is about giving when I have the chance and not when the feeling is right.
I fumbled for my wallet and pulled 10 ringgit for him. 10 ringgit may be nothing in our country but over there, it can cover his 3 meals for today.
This thought came to me last week over at the Go Forth Seminar: if so many people in the Third World Country makes less than US$1 per day, people like me can use my abundance to bless them with a school, and those with more financial power can probably build a bigger school, and so on, and through education, we can help them to bring themselves out of poverty
