Singapore

Haven't been blogging because I had no time recently. Reached home late on Thursday, tired on Friday (in fact, I slept 12 hours), came back late again last night and now, I shld be rushing off to sell breakfast somewhere.

Well, I'll just talk briefly about Singapore. Am reading Mr LKY's Memoire (from Third World to First) and I am amazed at how Singapore was formed and developed. There will never be another Singapore, She would still be taking baby-steps while neighbouring countries devour Her. Singapore is thus, a miracle/accident.

Those who believe that She was a miracle has the 'patroitism' and arrogance to believe that we are special, that we are tough and strong. Quitters should be frowned upon, Olympics medals should be won by home-grown Singaporeans (that'll exclude me).

Those who believe that She was an accident has eyes set on greener pastures, yes, Singapore has been kind to us but given a chance, I'll move on. It doesn't matter if a medal is won by someone with an angmoh sounding name or one with only 2 chinese characters, olympics success should be congratulated.

I just find that Singaporeans have got no rights to be boastful, we're always fighting to be on the top, to make our mark in the region and in the world. Things would be so much easier if everyone realises it. I have no opinion as to whether Singapore was a miracle/accident; if my belief doesn't change the fact, why even think about something so trival. Just wondering how many of the civil servants are working for Singapore and how many are just working for promotions, but then again, it wouldn't change a thing, would it?
