Mum was telling me last evening, 'now that you've started working, it'd be good to get a box of mooncakes home, ...'
Why? I don't really care if there's no mooncakes. I don't mind dragonboat festival without the rice dumplings. And when I thought I'm not the only one, my brother affirmed that he would feel a sense of loss when there is no mooncakes, yam or pomelo during the festive season.
A sense of loss? I don't and probably won't understand.
But I'd hate not showing my kids that there are such practices like distributing and receiving ang paos, dragonboats, mooncakes, etc so I guess I'm not as incurable as other 'root-less' creatures lol. Root-less, I won't admit it, I just find it unnecessary to eat mooncakes for the sake of eating mooncakes when I don't find it absolutely fascinating. Nevermind, I will rest my case and just go through the motion, to pretend to agree to the need for such props, to appreciate the full-moon in the backdrop of skyscrapers.
Will be meeting with Ankit and gang tomorrow for dinner. He's leaving for the States soon and I wish him all the best. Reminds me of my younger days. Please work hard and be one of the successful Indians in Wall Street, and don't ever forget me =P
As people leave, people will return to fill the vacancy in the population: Jon Choo is coming back in less than 2 weeks' time. Yes, the nicest and the most yandao guy in unit is coming back for a short holiday, please spread the message. He is currently free only on 20 Sep and 23 - 26 Sep. Since I'm not free on 23 and 26 Sep, I suggest a dinner session on the 20th (Robert, pls spread the message, ty)
