Carry on My Way

Woke up in the middle of the night to check the time: 3.30am - well, still a bit more before I have to wake up ... then it dawned upon me that it was a Saturday morning ...

Flipped open the newspapers and there's the headline on Serangoon Gardens, I chuckled to myself as I recalled just a few weeks ago that the MPs begged for tolerance from the residence and reassured that it was just an initial proposal when nothing was firmed up. Yeah, we'll hear your comments but we'll still do it against your wishes.

Well, efforts have been put in, in the form of a new road to bring our foreign helpers in and out of the dormitory, presumably to their workplaces but I guess, the helpers will still have to walk to buy their groceries within the neighbourhood. And who was the resident whose interview was published that he/she appreciates the new road to minimize the disruption to the residence. I am sympathetic to the new middle-class staying there, I also feel for the helpers from the neighbouring countries, I'm just a little disappointed that the solution wasn't really something out of the box.

I was just commenting to my brother that I am not going to be rich (not that I really care) and frankly speaking, I don't know what I'm saving for ... the overseas trips so that I don't have to panic or lament that I have no money when I'm invited? a car which I don't really need? a house which I can probably pay off with the compulsory saving scheme of the govt? the occasional splurge on branded stuff which I can still buy without breaking my saving structure?

I know I know, if I don't know what to do with it, I should just offer/donate everything away
