Weekend

Forced myself up at 9 and wondered what I had to do for the day, of course, that brief.
Opened my lappie at 10 and looking through that Folio 1, I realised that I probably needed the contents page to be sure I hadn't missed out anything. Sms-ed Jordan who replied with a no. that I could check with the MP to see if they'll let me in. I took a cab and arrived some time past noon.
Stayed there till 3.30pm and well, though morale wasn't high, I enjoyed a little as I had 3+ hours at the comp in the office when the phone calls didn't come in, mails didn't come in either and no one popped by. Basically I had my much-needed timeout in my office. No parents, no younger brother, and neither was there a dog who'd bother me to gain my attention.

Looking at the volume (as I flipped to the contents page), I could probably do it tomorrow morning but well, I wouldn't know if I have the time either. Got a message while I was in the cab - a learning point from my boss. I must know that as a working adult, we're being assessed for every email, every phonecall that we make. Got to remember it.

I would have stayed longer but fortunately or unfortunately, there was a time restriction for my OA access, meaning that I may only do some of the work tomorrow.

Took the slow way back (bus and train), and thought that if I could dress down and if I drive/my office is in some centralized location such as the Treasury like Joel's MTI, I probably wouldn't mind working that extra 3-4 hours on Saturdays and Sundays. Just a thought, I mean, I did that quite often in my final year in university.

Saw this familiar face as my train reached Sembawang, took me 3-4 sec before the name registered: Hoirul! CPT Hoirul, we spent about 5 hours together at the Training Ground during my last trip to Australia.

I had my SJI Class of 98 - 10-year anniversary yesterday. I was contemplating whether I really wanted to go because I was tired of mingling and I really needed some space (I had been ranting for months that I missed my apartment in tokyo, the stillness where no one would talk to me, or expect my response). For that I probably sound like a hermit but well, I need this kind of space once in a while and I don't get it at home because I share a room with my brother and as a traditional Chinese family, we practise the Open-door Policy.

But nevertheless, I was glad that I went, I last stepped into SJI some 4 or 5 years ago and I had not met some of them since our graduation in 1998. It certainly felt good to be remembered and to see everyone doing well in all the sectors (I have to say that those who aren't doing that well probably wouldn't come for a gathering like this). The ones who can give me advice who probably be ChaoRong because we are working in the same building and Joel (MTI) who is busier than me preparing briefs for PM, etc. And I couldn't remember that we made a Class Flag with a cheesy motto of 'Embodiment of Perfection' (and who'll keep it for 10 years and bring it to an anniversary - we have to give the applause to Ramindar) ← As usual the then-aspiring Lawyer Hanwen thought of the motto. I am far from perfect but fora motto, we couldn't get a silly one.

The moment that started it all

The cheesy Class Flag lol

10 years on

Hail Hail Alma Mater, Hail to SJI
We'll hold your banner high with pride
A shield of Green and White
We'll fight to keep your glory bright
And never shall we fail
Hail to thee our Alma Mater
Hail Hail Hail

For all the foreign policies that we desire to perform

For all the outreach and mission that we aspire to do

There is always a need to do an internal check and servicing

We can only move out when the domestic issues are tackled

Time to return to my root and search for my motivation and concentrate on QTs and Bibles
