3 hours at the Airport

Yi Zhuan believed that I simply love the airport. Well, after sending Lynn off in February, I headed to the airport again to give Friska a dinner treat just now.

Got to know Friska in language school, as I embarked on my undergraduate studies, Friska did her Masters and then PhD and will be graduating this month and be officially Dr Friska. Anyway, she's an Indon with Jakarta as her hometown, a Javanese and a Christian (so we had no problem finding food around).

She returned to Indonesia for a job interview with the World Bank and transited through Singapore; arriving early this morning from Jakarta with the connecting flight to Tokyo at 11.45pm. I suggested dinner at the airport as it would be more convenient and so, as we had not met for 30 months, we had a 3 long hours of catching up before she entered the restricted area at 11pm.

There are some people whom I can get along easily with and Friska is one of them. I don't remember talking so much back in Tokyo but it was a easy 3 hour just talking about her courtship with a British guy as well as a German guy, and of course, her job-hunting and her home-coming gathering which involved 270 cousins of hers.

I came home sleepy but happy, it had been an enjoyable evening, catching up with an old friend, one of the first since I stepped into Tokyo.
