Cambodia

Hadn't expected that my last entry was 17 Nov, haiz.. have been busy recently with the X'mas Carnival prep as well as the Mission trip to Cambodia from 27 Nov - 5 Dec.

Anyway, Cambodia was a wonderful experience, 9 days over which I had no access to news, work, limited internet and a time of prayer, meditation, love, peace and harmony. Forget about the discomfort, mosquitos and bed-bugs and I'd say it was heaven on earth.

So apart from learning that I indeed love kids, I was also encouraged by the teenagers there, while we were ministering to the 5-14 year olds, the 15-18 year old boys were assisting another Aussie team in building a toilet there.

The boys would go to school in the morning and return to the orphanage, taking care of the children, helping us in translation and most of all, they were steadfast in what they were doing. Their spiritual maturity was amazing and it was heartening to learn about their love for Cambodia, their lifestyle of bible-study and prayer for one another, more remarkable when some were orphans themselves.

It was hard for me to find a similar group in Singapore, where not only youngsters but so many others would get preoccupied with facebook, shopping, girls (they are interested in girls too), etc. I guess there is less distraction over there.

One of the boys, Nad called me as I was returning home from church today. He asked how I was and said that he'd send me mangoes that he was going to pick. I'd love to return to see how these boys would have grown.

Looking through the calendar for 2010 and planning to make a quick trip there over one of the long weekends.
