Facing the storm as a 17 yr old

Recalled how during cell, Jing and Ian shared about their relationships with their parents. It gets interesting when parents start to treat us as a friend and seek advice from us.

Mine came during JC but since my parents were not as authoritarian as others to begin with, it wasn't a weird transition. And since my Dad didn't have to serve National Service, there wasn't any advice from them, instead, it was more like a plea, "Safety first, don't stressed yourself over army."

I guess I learnt from a young age that I can't burden my parents, not that they wouldn't care, but because I feel they're unable to help (partly because they have treated me as an adult when I was 17).
