Mini-Victory

Had a long long meeting and I'm too sian to work on the paper so ...

You know how often the banks call you up to apply for this or that credit card and to open this or that account, offering this or that rebate or this or that free gift. And at times, I'd just become soft-hearted and make an application (I had even signed up for a credit card because my friend needed to earn commission from my application), while knowing full well that I have no use of an account to take loans. Well, the time has come and I was billed for an annual fee. I was resigned to pay but to prevent it from happening again, I made it a point to close off all the cards/accounts that I do not need. After numerous phonecalls, I managed to even have that annual fee waived without having to continue my subscription (or whatever you call it)

Oui, C'est Petit Victoire Moi (probably grammatically wrong but who cares lol)

The amount is just what I need for paintball on Saturday. Yes, Yuko had labelled me a 浪費家 before: I can spend money away on things easily. But just not to a bank in this way.

Speaking of which, my Mum grumbled that I am wasting $60 on paintball alone because I rant occasionally that I have no money (probably when she bills me for Coco's snacks and medication). Well, my Mum doesn't really know how to sugar-coat her words and the tone isn't always nice. But then, after the initial irritation, I started to think about her words and looked into the list of participants for paintball.

I do get what my Mum had wanted to say (in a better perspective of things). Though many in YC have come from privileged homes, there are at least 1 or 2 who will probably struggle to pay that kind of money for 3hr of fun (think about spending $10 on a long movie as a comparison). And persoanlly, I know at least 1 who was priced out though I believed the person could well afford.

Money, money, money, such a touchy topic even in a church setting. It is a tough call and there is tension between "sharing out of love" and "responsible living". I guess everyone has got different standards.
