Movies

Not that I was lazy but there was something wrong with my computer at home. The alignment of my post entries would just go hay-wire so ...

Anyway, I watched Public Enemies last Friday!!! Yay.

It has got almost zero character development. They were as developed as they could be from the beginning but I somehow rooted for the bank robber Derlinger (Johnny Depp). He was special, still had the youthful idealism to believe that he was too smart for the cops. To believe that the past didn't matter because he chose to look ahead to the future.

That fire, that determination. Reminded me of myself when I was a teenager. As we enter the society, we learn that the past do matter, people from the richer families tend to get their cars first, people who are born in a better family tend to be more popular. While teachers and parents tell us that we are special, we know that there is only one Michael Jackson, one Steve Job, one Tiger Wood, one Barack Obama ...

Thinker or not, we want to be the fastest kid in town, to have the cutest girl as girlfriend, to be the maverick in the workplace, to be young, goodlooking and rich, to be someone in power. I like Derlinger because he was beyond all those: he would rather die early than to drag on in life. I second him.

G.I. Joe - the American A**holes. We sang that as a kid. I mean I always remembered the Cobra to be firing red lasers while the Joes would fire in blue. Every now and then, they would rally 'Ooo... Joe'. It was cheesy, it was lame but as a kid, cartoon was the world to us.

Anyway, the movie was lame but nevertheless enjoyable. It was a 2+ hr of non-stop firing and explosions, followed by more firing and explosions, ... Still, it was simple enough to stifle serious thoughts, a wonderful movie for us to destress. Oh, and "Anna" was 'hot'
