I expected myself to switch off after the parade segment of the celebration but this year's NDP was slightly different. No, not the 8:22 pledge, not our a-little-too-fair PM Lee, nor our SM who was caught waving his torch with his eyes shut
But the departure from the abstract items to simple items that everyone could relate to. I especially liked the release of the heart-shaped balloons, followed by PM Lee's recount of NDP 1968 when it was a heavy downpour
I was telling my yandao brother than the 'heart-shaped' balloons were a little too 'soft' but the screen switched immediately to PM Lee's message of our resilence which really made him look good. The 'little red dot' performance by Soka too, was well thought out. Oh, and the uniform of Red Cross is cute. I'd give a 9.5/10 for this NDP though I must say that it didn't feel right to see the MPs' precision drills being used as backdancers in the song "I'll survive", it could be a way to save cost, who knows.
