Punching above my weight

I suppose my training has picked up and I'm quietly confident that I can complete the ultra-marathon next month. Somehow, the training runs tend to get better when work gets tough. The correlation is such that I'd rather continue running for an additional kilometre than to stop and return to my work, such is the life of a foot soldier who stands in the line of fire, protecting the generals who may/may not know the situation on the ground.

We certainly need some directions but the bosses aren't able to provide them. I don't entirely blame them because we all know that it is impossible to make those kind of decisions, but still, they are in the better position to say something, given their pay, etc.

It doesn't help that I'm doing 2 persons' worth of work, and if there is no change in the coming weeks, things will just fall through the cracks. The programme in Washington is taking place next week and my boss will never release me because we are short of staff, and Mission is not obliged to help us although I started begging since last week.

Just hope that I don't get the blame when things don't work out, I would love to fly over but my boss is finding it unnecessary.

Yes, the ever-dependable Darius is on a holiday-mood since he's travelling to Phuket on Thursday, which means, I'll be saddled with 2.5 persons' work till the middle of next week.

From my humble opinion, there are several ways to go about this:

- Hire someone quickly; or

- Give me the power to demand things to be done.

In the mean time, running is a good distraction.
