Home Sweet Home

It does sound cool to travel on the Company's expenses and when subsistence allowance could be seen as a mini-bonus, it is hard to convince others that all may not be as rosy as it appears. I returned at 6am today, came home, unpacked, slept for 2+ hours, packed my stuff and came to office during lunch time.

The clock ticked away as I read through the mails in my inbox, my internal email account had chalked up 80 mails while I was away [Note: Not too many for 3.5 days]. I started on my post-trip admin and report and before long, it was 7pm.

Well, I felt more relaxed back in office. It could be stressful while travelling: when I couldn't behave the silly way that I am used to doing; when I had to make intelligent comments and observation; when a night's rest was interrupted by constant checks on the handphone that I had not overslept or that there was no update on a new attack/demonstration in the Gulf of Aden, Thailand, etc...

I switched on my work computer at 1+pm today and saw the boss I travelled with answering his boss' email at 7+am. Working backwards, since our plane touched down at 6am, he must have started working the moment he reached home.

With his salary, I guess he deserves to be worked so hard [Note: I did not say that he deserves the salary for working so hard lol]. But I would not be surprised to hear him share that he would rather work less hard in exchange for riding in an Economy Class seat when travelling.

There are a thousand and one things to do in church this weekend. Talking to Pastor last week, I can now understand the significance of it, but I still wonder why there is a need for substantial decoration or administrative works. I will bring my computer to work on the minutes tomorrow while we wait for the late-comers.
